The Ducklings have enjoyed going on a Bear Hunt!;

As some of the children have been enjoying the story at home, we thought it would be a good idea to extend this interest into the nursery. We began by simply reading the book to a small group of children. One child was even able to finish one of the sentences in the book by saying "day!", while the others joined in with "uh oh!". Holly then extended the book into the curiosity corner by creating the 'long wavy grass' and a 'big dark forest'. Following this, Paige set up a messy play activity using shredded paper, gloop, shredded wheat with water, green play dough, flour and cardboard to make each of the areas described in the book. While playing with the messy play we experimented with different sounds that are used throughout the book such as "wooo hooo" and "swishy swishy". In addition to "we're going on a bear hunt", the Ducklings have taken part in lots of Easter activities. They did this by painting card shaped like eggs and listening to lots of Easter music such as 'chick chick chicken’.
