22 Street Lane Nursery - April 2022 Newsletter
April Newsletter Chicklets Room News
The children love the outdoor baby garden and have been enjoying making marks in the sand and accessing the busy board. We have been enjoying the Spring sunshine and some lovely walks to Roundhay Park where the children had the chance to feed the ducks. We have introduced barefoot play into the Chicklets Room during the day and throughout our messy play activities. Barefoot play has many benefits for children and supports the development of the brain and nervous system. It is also good for a child’s sensory development and can help them understand spatial awareness. Throughout March, we celebrated many different events such as World Book Day, Comic Relief and Mother's Day. The children explored different types of messy play in relation to these events such as red pasta play and scented playdough. It was lovely to see all the mummies at the tea party and we hope to do more events in the future. We have noticed progression within the children’s physical development with more of our children taking their first steps! They have been gaining their confidence with taking steps in the room and always enjoy accessing the climbing frame where they can begin to walk up and down the steps. We have also been focusing on communication and language, we have many children who are beginning to say a few words and are really starting to understand the routines at nursery. We introduced a family book into the Chicklets Room and the children have all loved looking at each other’s family pictures and even pointing and saying "mamma" or "dadda".
