Swans Room News

The Swans have been very busy throughout July and have enjoyed learning about lots of exciting things. We began by exploring France which has been our Country of the Month. The children enjoyed celebrating ‘Bastille Day’, creating the French flag using red, white and blue tissue paper, eating some traditional French cuisine including some delicious croissants, learning how to count from 1-10 in French and say some simple phrases such as: 'good morning' and 'how are you?'. Later on in the month we had a Teddy Bear's Picnic themed week! The Swans enjoyed threading activities linked to teddy bears and drawing pictures of their favourite teddies, trying carefully to focus on the smaller details when mark making. Lots of the Swans also enjoyed bringing in a teddy from home for the picnic, which was in our new story cave area in the Big Garden. We had lots of fun eating sandwiches with our teddy bears and learnt the 'Teddy Bear's Picnic' song too! I wonder if your child can remember the song? We also had our Swans Graduation this month - which all of the children have been working so hard for! We had been very busy practising lots of songs and dance moves for several weeks, and the day was so much fun! It was so special to be able to celebrate all together and all of the Swans were amazing and have a great day! Well Done Swans! Linked to our Graduation on the 23rd July, we have also been focusing on ‘When I Grow Up’ with the children thinking about their potential future careers. The Swans have enjoyed exploring lots of tuff trays linked to different professions, including: construction, medical and teaching. We have also been drawing images of what the children would like to be when they grow up…lots of fab ideas!
