Celebrating Bastille Day and France during July!

We had a lovely day on July 14th learning about Bastille Day and France. The children and staff all dressed in red, white and blue, or in striped/traditional style dress in support of the celebration. There was a variety of messy play activities for the younger children using red, white and blue resources to make their own firework displays. The older children recreated the wonderful structures found in Paris and made their own French flags. Some of the children even had a go at making their own croissants too, both using real dough as well as doing some out of playdough as well. The children really enjoyed learning some French words and numbers too and had a good go at counting to five. The children also enjoyed French-themed meals that day with a platter of fresh baked croissants, chicken chasseur, baguettes and cheese.

Beach Week fun in the sun

The children had so much fun during ‘Beach Week’, and what made it even more exciting was the lovely weather we had too. All the children were able to bring their swimming costumes and towels to enjoy a variety of water and sand play, as well as the big slippery slide we setup in the garden. They all enjoyed traditional fish and chips served in paper cones and we had a lovely delivery of ice cream from one of our families. Our sincere thanks and appreciation to Francesco and Martha from Casa Mia for supplying the lovely vanilla gelato on our beach day. It was a lovely treat and thoroughly enjoyed by the children.
