22 Street Lane Nursery - August 2024 Newsletter

August Newsletter Yorkshire Aid Convoy: Friday 9th - Friday 16th August

22 Street Lane Nursery, in partnership with the Yorkshire Aid Convoy, needs your help to provide aid to the children of Ukraine. On Friday 9th August, our CEO Simon Pollard will be joining a convoy of 7.5 tonne lorries to drive roughly 5,000 km on a round trip to help distribute vital aid to those displaced by the war in Ukraine. This humanitarian aid will be delivered to the children of Ukraine by a team of volunteers, with a focus on helping orphanages and hospitals that provide life-saving service to young children in the region. Determined to make a difference, we are looking for your help. We are aiming to raise as much money as possible to help support Yorkshire Aid, which has an unwavering mission of collecting, transporting and distributing humanitarian aid directly to the people and children who need it most. Simon will be on the ground during this operation and driving a lorry full of supplies as a part of a larger convoy effort. Once they have arrived, Yorkshire Aid will then work closely with local organisations and charities on the ground in Ukraine to ensure that all donations reach the most appropriate hospitals and schools that are most in need of help and resources. These convoys take place regularly and are funded by the money raised during previous efforts, so we are initiating this campaign now to help Yorkshire Aid continue their vital work in the future, as they look to deliver more aid in the weeks and months ahead. We believe that as a nursery we have a social responsibility to educate the children about Ukraine in an appropriate manner. As part of an ongoing education programme, the children at 22 Street Lane Nursery will be looking to learn and understand the importance of working together to overcome adversity, as well as the strength of community when people work together to help one another. Every donation, no matter how small, is greatly appreciated and will be matched by the nursery up to our initial goal. If you are unable to give, we would be incredibly grateful if you are able to share the campaign to friends and family, either directly or through social media, and help get this message out there to allow us to support this mission as much as we can. The Yorkshire Aid charity is a non-profit organisation, and 100% of the funds raised will directly support their future relief efforts. We hope that our involvement will help our children gain an understanding of giving back and helping the less fortunate in circumstances outside of their control. We’re planning to connect with the schools receiving this aid in Ukraine and create ‘pen pal’ links with the children and teachers. We believe that it is important for the children at 22 Street Lane to connect with other children directly and share their experiences to gain a better understanding of the world and other cultures, which will be explored more during class time.
