22 Street Lane Nursery - December 2018 Newsletter

NEWS: December Newsletter India and Diwali Celebrations The children had a wonderful time celebrating Diwali, and India as the Country of The Month. The children created rangoli patterns in rice, and designed their own in the mark-making area. They also made special diya lamps to celebrate the festival of lights which they decorated and took home. The children also sampled a variety of Indian-inspired dishes including pakoras, onion bhajis, mango lassis, biriyani curry and poppadoms !

Advent Calendar We were overwhelmed with how many of you donated an advent calendar for the North Leeds Foodbank - we made a number of children very happy! It was a lovely way to teach our children that not everyone is as fortunate as they are, and the importance of giving to others. Thank-you for your generosity.

Children in Need Thank-you for all generous donations, we raised a total of £155.26

Parents First Aid We are looking into holding a Parents First Aid class here at the nursery, potentially on Saturday 26th January or Saturday 6th February. The two-hour course (9.30am – 11.30am) will cover the following: • CPR baby and child • Burns, bleeding, choking • Meningitis awareness • Febrile convulsions • Head bangs • Broken bones The cost of the course is £20.00, and as there is limited availability (12 places), this will be offered on a first come, first served basis. If the course is successful we will look to provide additional dates.
