22 Street Lane Nursery - December 2021 Newsletter

December Newsletter Chicklets Room News The Chicklets have had a very busy month playing, exploring, and learning.

The children have shown a huge interest in messy play, however, the children also love to explore using their sense of taste. So we have been offering edible alternatives for our large-scale activities and the children loved exploring edible mud using food colouring, rice and cornflour gloop all mixed together. We also used various cereals crumbled up to manipulate the texture of sand too. We have also been providing tools to offer emptying and filling when exploring messy activities to improve control of our children's hand movements, therefore, helping them be able to use their spoons during meal times. We have been on lots of walks to Roundhay Park this month. The babies have enjoyed going in the double buggies to the park and spotting the different animals in the park. We went to visit the swans, where we stopped and had some snacks! Whilst in the park we also spotted lots of transport vehicles and when spotting the bus drive by, we all joined in singing 'The Wheels on the Bus'. The Chicklets are continuing to grow and develop new skills every day. Our biggest challenge has been physical development, however, our children never give up and have continued to persevere through everyday challenges. The climbing frame has supported the children and has been a real favourite. It has helped build sturdiness and confidence for the children. Encouraging the children to stand with support and take independent steps.
