February Newsletter NEWS

National Storytelling Week: 2nd-8th February At the start of February, the children will be taking part in National Storytelling Week. This year’s theme, “Soundtrack Your Story,” invites children to explore the magic of storytelling through sound, lyrics, rhythm, and music. Throughout the week, we will be providing a range of exciting activities, sensory tuff trays, and creative experiences inspired by some of the children’s favourite stories, as well as our five core books. Activities will include designing our own version of The Gruffalo, making a fruit salad inspired by The Very Hungry Caterpillar, and many more imaginative opportunities for storytelling and play. Next week, we will be focusing on a different core book each day: • Monday: The Gruffalo • Tuesday: Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?

• Wednesday: The Very Hungry Caterpillar • Thursday: We’re Going on a Bear Hunt • Friday: The Gingerbread Man

We would love your support in helping us celebrate the joy of stories. If you are able to, please share your child’s favourite stories at home by posting on Tapestry. This will help us plan even more personalised and exciting activities throughout the week. Children are also very welcome to bring in their favourite books for us to share and read together. We love discovering new stories!

Random Acts of Kindness Day: Tuesday 17th February In support of Random Acts of Kindness Day, each room will talk to the children about how we can be kind to others, and the importance of this. We will be reading stories and thinking of how we can make others feel happy and will share what we get up to on Tapestry! We will also have a Kindness Tree in Reception, where you can hang a photo showing something kind your child has done. We’d love to see how kind everyone can be!
