Chicklets Room News

June has been such a busy month here in Chicklets, and what a sunny month it has been too! The Chicklets made the most of the sunny weather, coming to the nursery in their swimwear and enjoying lots of fun water activities in the garden. The little paddling pools were a favourite as the Chicklets stood inside and made a great big splash! The warm weather meant we could make the most of Healthy Eating Week too; enjoying many refreshing summery fruits, smoothies and juicy fruit salads. Father’s Day was our first big event, where we enjoyed a Father’s Day Stay and Play Breakfast. It was great to see all the daddies and Chicklets getting stuck into our activities, especially the messy rice play and Dino World, before settling down to enjoy some yummy breakfast burritos. We would like to say a great big ‘thank you’ to all the parents for attending, the Chicklets loved being able to share all of their nursery fun with you! Throughout June, the Chicklets have been working super hard on their communication skills and working to tell the staff what they want and need using both words and signs. With this, books have been a big interest and the children have loved sharing stories with the staff and their friends too. We hope to continue this progress into July to help build the Chicklets’ independence ready for their move to the next room in September!

Ducklings Room News

Throughout June, we welcomed our daddies for a Father’s Day Stay and Play. It was lovely to see everyone and for us to show you some of the activities we get up to at nursery. We explored our gardens, the sandpit, the water wall and even played some football. We then enjoyed some yummy breakfast burritos! We were also lucky to have some warm weather throughout June. The Ducklings enjoyed lots of water play, they used their transporting schemas to transfer water to and from jugs and cups. We splashed in the paddling pools, enjoyed lots of outdoor play and even had ice lollies as a special treat! We have been looking at new ways to enhance our garden and encourage wildlife to visit. The Ducklings have been busy making bird feeder holders. We used our fine motor skills to roll the bird seed holders in honey watching how the bird food sticks, which was so much fun. As always the Ducklings have been enjoying going on trips in our community. We headed off to Roundhay Park to explore the surroundings. We listened to the noises the birds made, looked at some flowers, searched for the Gruffalo, and even saw some ducks. The children said hello to all the animals we saw and even practised some Makaton signs. We then ran around the woods hunting for some fairies and knocking on all the doors, we stroked some fluffy dogs that came to say hello and even saw some big boys and girls from another school!
