Cygnets Room News
We have focused on looking at all types of animals especially mini-beasts and insects, as the Cygnets have taken a great interest, especially in the garden where they found lots of wiggly worms. The Cygnets have also enjoyed learning all about life cycles, 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' is one in particular that the Cygnets have enjoyed and we are very excited to welcome our caterpillars to the room! The Cygnets also were very excited to meet Ivy, a Giant African Millipede who has over 100 legs! The Cygnets were given the opportunity to hold Ivy and we spoke about what she felt like and that her legs were really tickly. The Cygnets had lots of fun meeting her, we then looked at other giant insects such as a giant snail. The Cygnets have had so much fun this month, as we have been able to take some trips to Roundhay Park. The Cygnets have had so much fun exploring the fairy woodland, looking at all of the trees that have been carved out to create a magical storyland. The Cygnet children took some time at the park to do some mindfulness exercises, where we lay on the grass and closed our eyes listening to the sounds around us. As Spring has continued, the children have been enjoying planting different seeds in the garden, and they've recently planted some potatoes in our allotment area. The children have been working alongside the Swans children to achieve this, making sure that they're being properly watered every day. We look forward to watching them grow and then cooking with them once they are ready to be pulled from the ground.
