June Newsletter Cygnets Room News

The Cygnets have been very busy throughout May! At the beginning of the month, we celebrated Eid Al Fitr by making our own henna patterned creations as well as our very own Mosque buildings using a range of junk modelling materials, such as cardboard boxes, bottles and lots of recycled materials! We have also been continuing with our ‘Around The World In 30 Days’ topic and have been focusing on ‘Languages’ by learning nursery rhymes in different languages, such as ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star’ in Cantonese and ‘Row,Row,Row your Boat’ in French. We have also explored saying 'hello' in different languages too! The Cygnets have shown a huge interest in minibeasts and insects this month too, especially in the garden where they enjoy finding lots of wiggly worms. We have been exploring and learning about the life cycle of a caterpillar and reading the book 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' has been supporting the topic further. We were also lucky enough to welcome our very own caterpillar’s to the room this month! The children have loved observing the caterpillars each day using their magnifying glasses. The children also had a very special visit from the Library Bus. The Cygnets were able to climb aboard the bus to have a special storytelling session! It was so lovely to hear the children sharing what their favourite stories are with their friends.
