Welcome to Natasha - Bank Staff “I am so excited to be joining the wonderful team at 22 Street Lane Nursery. I have always been passionate about helping children to grow and learn new things about the world and themselves. I’ve been so fortunate to work alongside children through my love of volunteering and watching them blossom into their true selves. As an actor/musician, I hope that I can share my love of performing with the children. In my spare time, I love taking photos, scrapbooking and being with my friends and family!”
Welcome to Olivia - Bank Staff "I have worked with children with learning disabilities for several years, which has helped me to understand the importance of enabling children to develop new skills and participate in the things they enjoy. I am currently studying to become a mental health nurse and would love to work with children in my future career, as this is something I am very passionate about. I believe that working at 22 Street Lane Nursery will help me to develop my knowledge and skills in working with children and provide them with a supportive place to grow and learn.”
Team Training Day Reminder - Nursery Closure Please be aware we will be holding a Team Training Day on Thursday 8th June, which means that the nursery would be closed on that day. We look forward to re-opening and seeing the children back at the nursery on the following day.

Each of the rooms will be making their own healthy snacks and will have a chance to visit the nursery allotment to see where our food comes from!
Parents Evening Parents are invited for a 10 minute parent consultation; this will be an opportunity to discuss your child’s progress and their next steps with their key person. There will be a Tapestry post to book your time slot. If you would prefer a telephone call, please let us know and we can arrange this on another day. Eid Al Adah Celebrations: Wednesday 29th June - Sunday 2nd July The children will be learning the customs and traditions of Eid Al Adah. Muslims celebrate Eid Al-Adha on the last day of the Hajj. The Hajj is a pilgrimage to Makkah in Saudi Arabia. It occurs every year and is the Fifth Pillar of Islam. Muslims will greet each other with “Eid Mubarak” and traditionally exchange gifts and share food with friends and family. To celebrate, Oli will be cooking up a yummy feast of traditional Asian foods for us to share. The children will also have the opportunity to take part in Eid inspired activities such as making their own Eid Mubarak pictures consisting of stars and moons, as well as creating Henna Hands by copying some beautiful henna patterns. The older children will be able to make their own Eid Biscuits, using a range of traditional Asian spices.

Dish of the Month
Lamb Masala with Rice
See our past selections on: 22streetlanenursery.co.uk/dish-of-the-month/ Ingredients
• 500g lamb mince • 1 large cauliflower • 1 large white onion • 2 red peppers • 1 garlic clove • 40g fresh ginger • 2 bay leaves
• 1 cardamom pod • 20g tomato purée • 2 tablespoons each of masala spice, turmeric and curry powder • 2 fresh tomatoes
• 2 tins of chopped tomatoes • 1 bunch of fresh coriander • Salt and pepper to taste • The juice of 1 lemon • 1 vegetable stock cube
Method
1. Lightly fry off the lamb mince in a deep pan until browned, drain all the fat and set aside. 2. Slice the onions and roughly cut your cauliflower, ginger and garlic and add them to the pan with the mince. (Here, you can add any additional vegetables if you prefer) and until golden. Add all the dry spices and the fresh ginger. (Save the coriander for the end.) 3. Continue to cook the vegetables and lamb with nice caramelisation making sure you don’t burn the pan, then add your chopped tomatoes. Turn it down to low heat and simmer for around 30 minutes. Add a little water and your vegetable stock cube. 4. Taste your curry and ensure it is nicely seasoned with the spices and salt and pepper. Finish the curry with finely diced fresh coriander and lemon juice. Add any additional garnishes you want to. This dish is best served with rice or warm chapatis. 5. This recipe can also be used with 750g of diced lamb, just ensure you cook it for a longer period until the meat becomes soft.

June Newsletter Chicklets Room News May has brought lots of fun and sunshine to the Chicklets Room!
We had a visit from the farm animals, explored red, white and blue for the King’s Coronation, and went on an exciting trip to Tropical World! The Chicklets have made the most of the sunshine too, spending lots of time outside in the garden, where we took some of our messy play outside. Next month is going to be another busy month for the Chicklets with our Father’s Day Stay and Play event. We can’t wait to welcome all the Chicklet dads and carers in to explore the room. We're also looking forward to taking more trips out as the weather is getting warmer; including walks to the park and going to the shops! Some exciting celebrations also include World Bicycle Day (3rd) and World Music Day (21st) where we will be making the most of the resources here at the nursery with bike races and a big singing session. Have a lovely June everyone!

Ducklings Room News
We have had a great month in the Ducklings Room and have been busy celebrating lots of fun things, such as the King's Coronation. We had a fun tea party, where we ate some yummy sandwiches and flapjack, and listened to some Royal music. Some of the Ducklings also brought in some beautiful crowns to celebrate, which they enjoyed wearing for the tea party. We also had some royal-themed activities, such as playing with red, white and blue playdough and rice messy play. Later in the month, we had a great day when the mobile farm came to visit us. The Ducklings were all super brave and stroked lots of the animals, including guinea pigs, an alpaca, goats and a horse! We have been lucky enough to go out on lots of outings this month too. We enjoyed visiting the park to see the pretty flowers and going to the charity shop where we got some new resources for our room. We have enjoyed some baking this month as well; the Ducklings made some yummy vegan cupcakes - they’re all getting very good at mixing. Finally, we have enjoyed celebrating World Mental Health Awareness Week. The Ducklings loved getting stuck into some messy play activities all about promoting happiness, and we made paper plate smiley faces too. We are looking forward to lots more fun next month and can’t wait to see what we get up to!

June Newsletter Goslings Room News
It has been a busy few weeks in the Goslings Room; we have been up to lots of exciting activities and adventures, and even had a very exciting visit from the mobile farm. The Goslings were lucky enough to see all different kinds of farm animals, such as alpacas, donkeys, rabbits, goats, lambs and even calves. They were so brave and gentle with the animals and were very good at listening to the instructions too. In the Goslings Room, the children have been showing lots of interest in animals and sea animals. We have had lots of fun tuff trays setups with sharks, whales and more. A few of the children even visited Tropical World to see the animals there. They loved seeing the fish and especially the cheeky meerkats. We also have been learning about Mental Health Awareness Week, with the children enjoying daily yoga and walks to the park, where they enjoyed picking flowers and drawing. The children also have been talking about their emotions and facial expressions - they enjoy recognising each expression, especially during story times! Lastly, we have been enjoying our weekly Shake, Rattle & Boogie sessions with Kimberly. The children have really been enjoying the sunshine and love showing off their favourite moves and being able to have the class on the balcony!

June Newsletter Cygnets Room News
We’ve had so much fun in Cygnets throughout May! We started the month by celebrating England as our Country of the Month, in honour of King Charles’s Coronation. To celebrate, we made some beautiful crowns and jewellery to wear at our tea party. We also drew some portraits of King Charles. The Cygnets looked at some famous landmarks from around England and then decided to get creative and make Big Ben out of recycled materials in the creative area. It was fantastic! To celebrate National Vegetarian Week, some of the Cygnets went on a trip to Oli’s allotment. Oli, our chef, showed the children all the vegetables, fruits and herbs he is currently growing. We then picked some rhubarb and sage to bring back to the nursery, and the Cygnets peeled the rhubarb for Oli, so he could make some jam with it – which was delicious. Also, throughout May we have been celebrating Mental Health Awareness Week. We spoke a lot about how we are feeling and why we feel certain ways. We did some yoga in the garden, as well as some exercises in the park. The Cygnets learnt some new Makaton signs that relate to how we are feeling, such as 'happy' and 'excited'. We have also planted some more pretty flowers in our small garden area, the Cygnets are taking great care of them by watering them every day.

Swans Room News June Newsletter
Over the past month, we have been very busy beginning to enjoy the sunny weather and taking part in many celebrations. We had a lovely time celebrating the King's Coronation and feeling a strong sense of community. The children enjoyed making crowns using different resources, and we enjoyed our special Afternoon Tea together. During May, we also thought a lot about Mental Health Awareness Week and took part in lots of mindfulness activities. We also read the story ‘The Colour Monster’ and learnt about how our feelings can sometimes get into a muddle. We then thought of ideas of how to calm us down in those moments. We also made our own Worry Box for us to talk to or draw pictures to help get our worries ‘out’ and get help from the grown-ups. The children also made hearts for their friends and told them why they are special. Additionally, we also celebrated ‘World Bee Week’ and learnt about why they are so important to our planet. The children shared the facts they already knew and learnt lots more. We particularly enjoyed learning about pollination and acting it out in different ways. One day, the children used pipettes to transfer the ‘nectar’ from flower to flower. Another day we used powder paint and pompoms to be the pollen and bees, and we saw how the ‘pollen’ stuck to the ‘bees’. The children that went to forest school found real pollen to spread around at the Monet Gardens. We learnt that this is so important to many flowers, crops, fruits and vegetables. Some children also got to make some yummy honey flapjacks.
