Country of the Month, November 2024: Sweden During October, the children have enjoyed exploring Sweden as our Country of the Month! We learnt all about some of the famous landmarks such as: The Royal Palace, Ericsson Globe, and Kalmar Castle, the children designed their own Dala Horses (which are traditional carved, painted wooden statues of a horse originating in the Swedish province of Dalarna), created the Swedish flag and created their very own Ikea role play shop! So much fun! Some of the children also brought in some traditional Swedish stories, which everyone enjoyed reading and baked some Hallongrottor (Swedish thumbprint cookies made using raspberry jam!) Throughout November we will be celebrating the United States of America as our Country of the Month! We will be exploring different states of America and celebrating Thanksgiving on Thursday 28th November with a traditional lunch. We will be exploring some Walt Disney classics along with looking at American traditions such as American football, baseball and basketball! If any families have any items to support our Country of the Month, we would be most grateful! Did you know? There are four towns in the United States named “Turkey.” They can be found in Arizona, Texas, Louisiana, and North Carolina.
