Black History Month (1st-31st October) Throughout October, the children have been learning all about Black History Month! Black History Month is a time to celebrate the contributions that black people have made over the centuries to shape the dynamic and diverse country that we have today! The children have been reading lots of books about Black history and culture and the Swans have been learning about lots of influential figures, such as Martin Luther King. The children made a wreath together showing their different skin tones, and thought about their dreams and hopes for the future!
Mid-Autumn Festival: Monday 6th October The Mid-Autumn Festival is also known as the Moon Festival or Mooncake Festival, is a harvest festival celebrated in Chinese culture. At the nursery, the children all enjoyed learning about the festival and created their very own lanterns to display around the room. Some of the older children also designed some of their own mooncakes, deciding which traditional filling they wanted to put inside.
World Mental Health Day: Friday 10th October For World Mental Health Day on Friday 10th October, the children enjoyed a variety of activities linked to feelings and emotions, as well as participating in lots of wake-up shake up, and a yoga session! Some of the rooms also enjoyed a relaxing spa day, where they placed cucumber over their eyes and practised meditation! They also had a foot spa and pretended to paint their nails!
