Swans Room News

The Swans have been very busy throughout September and have celebrated a number of exciting events. We started the month by welcoming all of our new children into the new room. The children have been getting to know the room; exploring each different area of provision and learning the ‘Swans Golden Rules’! We also invited the children to bring in an ‘All About Me’ bag containing 5 items, and the Swans really enjoyed sharing these with their friends during circle time at the beginning of September. We then continued with our theme ‘All About Me’ with the children designing their own self-portraits by looking in mirrors and using a variety of mark making tools. We then began exploring looking at our families discussing who is in our family and why they are so special! The Swans all enjoyed bringing in their family photos for our family tree and using these to draw their own family pictures. We have also been learning about why every family is different and unique; linking this to our Book of the Month ‘We Are All Different’ and learning about how families can have lots of similarities and differences. Finally, as always, we have been participating in lots of phonics and maths activities, including threading, practising writing names, matching objects to numeral cards and many more. The Swans have had a fantastic and very busy month and are looking forward to lots more fun next month now that all the new children have settled in so well!
