July Newsletter

Dear Parents and Carers,

As July begins we are delighted to be able to provide another month of celebrations and fun packed activities for all to enjoy. Here is our latest news roundup and some information points to share with everyone. As always, a very special welcome to all new children and their families who have joined us during the last few weeks.

Staff News;

We would like to welcome Jade Camp to our Ducklings team. Jade has just finished college and is joining the nursery as an apprentice. Jade is very excited about being part of the team and developing her career in childcare. The Nursery continues to develop and attract some fantastic talent who are eager to learn and carve a career in childcare. We believe it’s vitally important to have apprentices to allow us to mould and nurture our own staff so that we can give the children the best possible outcomes at 22 Street Lane Nursery. Jade, the team wish you a very warm welcome…..

1 st Birthday Party * Change of date*

Due to planning we have changed the date of our first birthday party celebrations to Thursday 20 th July :

We will be celebrating our first birthday with a summer party and BBQ for all the children.

Electric Awning;

For those of you who haven’t yet seen our electric awning, it has now been installed on the Gosling’s balcony. It’s a fantastic way to bring the outside in. It allows free flow access to the outdoor extended terrace area, giving the children more freedom and access to the outside space for them to play. An investment made to allow the continued learning and development come rain or shine, we are so pleased that the children love it…….

Father’s Day Picnic;

We would like to thank all the fathers who attended our first ‘Father’s Day Picnic’. We were delighted that so many of you could celebrate with us here at 22 Street Lane, we hope that you enjoyed the event.

Tapestry;

Please continue to add your photographs, videos and comments on to Tapestry, it is lovely to see what the children do at home and it helps us plan for the children using their interests. The older children like to show their pictures and talk about what they have been doing with their teachers and peers which is a great way to develop Personal, Social, Emotional Development, Communication and Language skills.

Garden;

We have lots of new additions to our garden area including resources such as giant blackboards, new signs, new bean bags for the Tipi / outside classroom and a new awning on our Gosling Balcony. The children have been enjoying the blackboards, using different types of media to express themselves.

Employee of the Month - June;

June’s employee of the month has been awarded to Shamyla Ahmed from the Ducklings room. Shamyla is so passionate and committed to providing the highest standard of care to the children and we love her warmth and caring nature. Shamyla has also been nominated by one of her Key Children’s parents…. “We would like to put Shamyla forward for the next employee of the month if possible, Alisha has come on leaps and bounds since starting in the Ducklings Room at 22SLN! Every week we see her doing new things, saying new words and singing new songs. Shamyla is so tuned in to Alisha's needs, interests and development. We feel that she displays genuine care and her bubbly personality rubs off on Alisha as she's happy to be dropped off and enjoy her day. We never have to worry about Alisha when we're at work and I think this speaks volumes about Shamyla. Thank you!”

If you would like to nominate a member of staff for ‘Employee of the Month’ then please email your nomination to alexandra@22streetlanenursery.co.uk

Country of the Month: Spain;

The children enjoyed celebrating Spain and the Spanish Culture throughout June and took part in lots of Spanish activities. We would like to say a big thank you to one of our parents, Nicola Andrews, she is the owner of NLDA and kick started our celebrations with some Flamenco dancing! It was an amazing session that the children absolutely loved, we thank you for your support. It was great to see so many children dressed in the Spanish flag colours and the girls in their Flamenco dresses! From the 24th – 28th July we will be celebrating ‘ South Africa’ , if anyone has any resources that they could lend to us that would be fantastic. We would welcome traditional clothing, photographs, maps or any other resources that will help support the children’s learning. Thank you.

People who help us;

The Swans are currently learning about ‘ People Who Help us’ and have so far enjoyed a visit from a Fireman named Mal who talked about fire safety and let the children dress up in his uniform. We then had a visit from two very nice Police women who each told us about their role and how they keep people safe. We would like your help if possible ; If any parents have a ‘helpful’ job such as Doctors, Dentists, Nurses, and Carers and would like to speak to the children about their role then we would love to hear from you. Please speak to our Head of Pre-School, Becky Walker.
