Goslings Room News

The Goslings have had an exciting month with the arrival of the caterpillars, and we loved watching them grow week-by-week. We watched them eating their food and wriggling their bodies around, and we've learnt that they create themselves a home called a 'cocoon' which happens before they transform into butterflies. They are currently at that stage now and the Goslings are very excited to see what happens next. Based on the interest of the caterpillars, we incorporated the book 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' into our daily activities. This story is one of our favourites, so it has been a good opportunity to understand how the caterpillars transform and learn what happens in the process. We have been creating our own caterpillars in a variety of ways, from using cardboard tubes in paint to rolling balls in the playdough to create their bodies. The Goslings also enjoyed creating the large scale stars and moons for Eid this month, and they especially loved being able to show their parents and carers as we presented it in the Nursery window for everyone to see. We worked well as a team, taking turns, and sharing the equipment to paint and stick materials, as well as working together to make star biscuits, listening carefully to the instructions, and helping to measure out the ingredients. We explored further into the culture of Pakistan and how Eid is celebrated which gave us the inspiration to create some henna style crafts.
