Swans Room News
In the Swans Room, we started May off with National Storytelling Week, where the children got to take part in lots of fun activities relating to all their favourite stories. We made some lovely crafts, relating to Elmer the Patchwork Elephant, and explored some fun sensory tuff trays linking to ‘We’re Going On A Bear Hunt’, ‘The Colour Monster’ and ‘Little Red Riding Hood’. The children also enjoyed getting cosy in the reading area and sharing their favourite books with their friends. To celebrate Mental Health Awareness Week, we invited the Swans children to enjoy a spa day. The children had a fun-filled day, where they got to relax by enjoying a foot spa, getting their nails done and taking part in some yoga and relaxing meditation. Throughout the week we also spoke a lot about our feelings and emotions with the children. We read some lovely stories, such as the colour monster, as well as making some lovely artwork in relation to how we are feeling. We also introduced a new friend to the room, the worry monster. The mobile farm came to visit with a whole host of friendly animals, and the children were absolutely delighted to meet the sheep, goats, alpaca, pig, cow, pony, Guinea pigs and rabbits. The Swans children were very excited to invite their grandparents into the nursery. They all loved showing them what they get up to and had lots of fun playing in the big garden where they designed their own photo frames, played football, drew lovely pictures and enjoyed a delicious picnic.
