22 Street Lane Nursery - September 2023 Newsletter

September Newsletter Swans Room Introduction

As your child will be moving to the Swans Room in September, we would like to provide you with a brief overview of what our room entails. This will include information about the room and routine to welcome your child with ease. There will be four members of staff in the Swans Room who you will see daily during drop off and feedback. Your child will also have a key worker and a deputy key worker for in their absence. The staff members in the Swans Room are as follows:

Emily Bottomley-Airth Room Leader

Charlotte England Deputy Room Leader

Alexia Caine Qualified Practitioner

Felix Barresi-Halsall Unqualified Practitioner

Pick up and Drop off: When dropping off and collecting your child at the beginning and end of the day, please feel free to come into the room to see what they have been up to and receive feedback from your child's Key Person. Feedback: As always daily feedback will be provided, however this may be less detailed than in the younger rooms as we begin to prepare the children and families for their next transition to Big School the following September. If you ever need to know something specific about your child, please do let a member of the Swans team know and we will be happy to relay this information to you. Areas / Layout of the Room: In the Swans Room, there are many areas of provision, which include a Role Play / Curiosity Area, Small World and Construction Area, Story Corner, Woodwork Bench, Creative Area, Finger Gym Area and a Maths Area. The Swans Room also has an outdoor classroom, shared with the Cygnets. Both indoor and outdoor classrooms are available for the children to explore every day, as well as access to the Big Garden too! Toilet area: There are three toilets in the Swans Room for the children to use. The children are encouraged to go to the toilet regularly especially before each mealtime and before and after they have been in the garden. We also encourage the children to regularly wash their hands and promote independence with dressing. Mealtimes: During mealtimes we have individual placemats with each child's photo and dietary details on the tables to encourage them to find their seats. Placemats are then attached to the back of the chairs, to be visible to all staff in the room and make them aware of each child's dietary requirements and any allergies. A dietary and allergy sheet will also always be available to all staff to see, but only the Room Leader or the Deputy Room Leader will hand out any food for children with dietary or allergy requirements. The children will also be provided with metal cutlery, such as: knives and forks and will be encouraged to self-serve their own food.
