In August we celebrated Yorkshire Day. We worked together as a team to make a big Yorkshire rose to hang in the reception. Another day the children got to have a taste of Chef Oli’s very yummy Yorkshire Puddings to accompany their delicious roast dinner. We also took an imaginary adventure to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park. After looking at some very curious and amazing sculptures we decided to all try making our own mini sculptures with salt dough. We also learnt about how magma is inside the volcano, and we call it lava once it comes out of the volcano. We also looked at photos of people visiting volcanoes and decided to make a larger volcano out of the maths table. We flipped it over and worked as a team to turn it into a volcano. We then 'tricked' Alex and Shosh as we rang them to tell them there was an emergency. Shosh came in and thought it was a real volcano! She was so shocked! We also completed lots of other volcano-related activities including 'lava slime', salt painting, the floor is lava, lava blow painting and the volcano parachute game. We also celebrated a football-themed day this month to show our support to the women's football team (The Lionesses) who made it to the World Cup final! We practiced stopping the ball with our feet, dribbling and scoring goals. We went outside to play a game and the children put their new skills into practice. We will miss all of the children who have now moved up to school but know they are ready for their school adventures. Wishing you lots of luck everyone!
