22 Street Lane Nursery - June 2023 Newsletter
June Newsletter Cygnets Room News
We’ve had so much fun in Cygnets throughout May! We started the month by celebrating England as our Country of the Month, in honour of King Charles’s Coronation. To celebrate, we made some beautiful crowns and jewellery to wear at our tea party. We also drew some portraits of King Charles. The Cygnets looked at some famous landmarks from around England and then decided to get creative and make Big Ben out of recycled materials in the creative area. It was fantastic! To celebrate National Vegetarian Week, some of the Cygnets went on a trip to Oli’s allotment. Oli, our chef, showed the children all the vegetables, fruits and herbs he is currently growing. We then picked some rhubarb and sage to bring back to the nursery, and the Cygnets peeled the rhubarb for Oli, so he could make some jam with it – which was delicious. Also, throughout May we have been celebrating Mental Health Awareness Week. We spoke a lot about how we are feeling and why we feel certain ways. We did some yoga in the garden, as well as some exercises in the park. The Cygnets learnt some new Makaton signs that relate to how we are feeling, such as 'happy' and 'excited'. We have also planted some more pretty flowers in our small garden area, the Cygnets are taking great care of them by watering them every day.
