Goslings Room News
It has been a lovely sun-filled start to the summer season. This month we have been busy working on ways to promote mindfulness and independence. We celebrated Mental Health Awareness Week and the Goslings enjoyed participating in activities which taught us about different emotions. We have been working on identifying these emotions within ourselves as well as taking part in group times where they have enjoyed linking colours with their emotions and making different faces to match them too. We also created our own spa day in the room, where the children were invited to come dressed in their pyjamas and we enjoyed a hairdresser station, massages, face mask, a nail salon and lots of yoga sessions both in big and small groups. During our yoga sessions, the children have been challenging their gross motor and coordination skills and have enjoyed the challenge. This month in the park we have also been working on our physical skills, the children enjoyed playing football and climbing trees in the open space as well as keeping an eye out for different animals or vehicles we can spot too. Next month in collaboration with Children’s Gardening Week we will be focusing on planting and things that grow, the children have already started taking part in seed potting activities and we have been helping Oli water the plants in his allotment, we will be working on different ways in which we can enhance this around the room and by the end the children will have planted their own cress and other herbs which will be on display on our windowsill.
