Ducklings Room News

To start the month, we celebrated ‘Yorkshire Day’. The Ducklings had so much fun exploring our ‘Yorkshire Tea’ themed tray, they loved pouring the water into the tea cups, mixing the tea bags and pretending to take a sip of the tea! Gruffalo Week was also amazing in the Ducklings Room, especially as it’s one of our core books and the children’s favourite books. We set out lots of fun and exciting activities, such as a Gruffalo crumble playdough tray with spoons and flour, a cereal tray with all the animals from the book, a hidden Gruffalo tray and we even created our very own Gruffalo faces using sticks and leaves, which the Ducklings loved! We also really enjoyed lots of warm weather! We went out into the garden a lot to splash in the paddling pools and relaxed in the shade, reading our favourite stories. We spotted a lot of insects, such as caterpillars and butterflies. The Ducklings were fascinated by all of this, so we set out an insect-themed tuff tray to enhance their learning, where we discussed the insect names and colours. Wow - what a fantastic year we have had with our Ducklings! We can’t believe all of the children are already moving to Cygnets, but we know they are ready, as they are all so big and clever! We are going to miss them all so much, and wanted to say a huge thank you to our parents for all of the continued support this year and for always being so kind and understanding.
